Corte René: 24 Rules of Balance Between Memory and Design.
A regeneration project by Bricolo Falsarella.

Abitare Verona is a magazine that has always chosen to tell architectural stories through images, leaving aside technical aspects and drawings.
But with the project by Bricolo Falsarella, an exception is inevitable.

In this case, it is the architects’ sketches that speak most powerfully, distilling 24 rules that guide the entire intervention.
Twenty-four precious rules—like golden characters—that made possible the recovery of a small abandoned historical hamlet, nestled among the vineyards of the Lake Garda hinterland.

The regeneration not only allowed the reuse of the empty volumes of rural buildings, but aimed to respond to the needs of an increasingly alienated society by restoring the human dimension intrinsically present in the spaces, atmospheres, and material culture still alive and vibrant in the ancient structures. The result is poetic spaces, shaped by a delicate balance between old and new.

The project is based on two key actions:

– the complete preservation of the existing structures, left in their poetic rawness;
– the calibrated insertion of devices needed for modern living (systems, staircases, etc.).

These elements were designed following 24 specific rules.

Each rule reinterprets a fundamental component of architecture, generating contemporary elements that gently declare themselves in relation to the existing structures, sharing with them the clarity of a constructive method.
