Massimiliano Tita Designs the Exhibition for MEDIF at the Vittoriano

Verona-based architect Massimiliano Tita curates the exhibition on the Exodus, set within the evocative setting of Rome’s iconic Vittoriano monument.

Tita, supported by the architecture studio ABCPLUS, has been entrusted with the design of the exhibition dedicated to the exiles from Fiume, Istria and Dalmatia. The show, opening in October at the Vittoriano in Rome, is promoted through a collaboration between FederEsuli and the ViVe Institute (Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia), with the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Culture.

The architect has conceived a multimedia installation designed to engage visitors on both a historical and emotional level, guiding them through a fully immersive experience.

“Pain and suffering, but also resilience and rebirth. The exhibition invites visitors to take part in an active remembrance,” Tita explains. He has long focused his work on exhibition concepts exploring identity and collective memory.

The project is in continuity with the Museo del Risorgimento and will be presented in English, Croatian and Slovenian to welcome an international audience. Set in one of the most symbolically significant spaces of the Vittoriano — a monument visited by over four million people each year — the exhibition draws on the expertise of a dedicated technical-scientific committee.

Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli underlined the symbolic importance of the initiative, recalling that “the Vittoriano features explicit references to the cities annexed after the First World War. While we await the creation of the Museum of the Exodus, we have welcomed this exhibition, promoted by the exile associations that have preserved this memory for decades.”
