Verona shines a spotlight on young cinema

From October 23 to 26, the Believe Film Festival returns, transforming the city into a creative and educational hub for filmmakers under 24.

Verona is ready to host the eighth edition of the Believe Film Festival, a national reference point for young and innovative cinema. From October 23 to 26, the city will become the stage for a unique event dedicated to emerging filmmakers eager to tell stories with fresh, authentic, and original perspectives.

More than just screenings, the festival offers workshops, masterclasses, pitch sessions, and networking opportunities, creating a true space for growth and exchange where young talents can refine their skills and connect with industry professionals.

Events will take place in iconic venues such as the Teatro Ristori and several city theaters, turning Verona into an open-air film set. The jury will be chaired by Verona-born director Alberto Rizzi, joined by renowned Italian cinema professionals including Paola Randi, Andrea Maguolo, and Daniela Bassani, who will also lead workshops for participants.

Among the highlights, Believe Extra expands the festival’s scope by featuring more mature works, while the main competition explores themes such as growth, inclusion, and identity.

The festival opens on Thursday, October 23, with the inaugural ceremony and the presentation of the finalists, followed by screenings, school matinées, and interactive sessions. The closing night will feature the awards ceremony, including the Audience Award and the ACEC Award, which will allow winning short films to be distributed in cinemas across Italy.
